Olu of Warri rescinds decision to renounce title
The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwase II, has rescinded his decision
to renounce his
royal title, Ogiame, as well as abolish some ancient Itshekiri cultural
practices. The Itsekiri Monarch bowed to the wishes of his people after
days of protests. His people asked him to either rescind his decision or
abdicate.
His decision was made public this afternoon Tuesday September 10th at the Kings Palace by one of his High Chiefs, Rita Lori Ogbebor, who read from a statement that was issued by 22 Palace Chiefs.
