The Ibikunle Amosun government, over a year ago, distributed transformers to some communities, with certificates.

Ironically, Olokuta community which is located in Abeokuta South Local Government, was issued a certificate alongside other benefitting communities.
But a year after, the government has failed to produce the transformer, despite written and verbal pleas from the community.
The landlords and residents, however, have tool it upon themselves to buy the transformer, taxing themselves N20, 000 per household.
A 500KVA transformer was eventually purchased from a company in Lagos and delivered to the community amidst celebration and following five years of near-blackout.
The Community Public Relations Officer, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, confirmed the development, explaining that landlords tasked themselves in contributing money for the purchase of the transformer, following government lackadaisical attitude.
“Yes, it’s true we contributed money on our own to purchase the transformer, having waited endlessly for over a year, that the government promised us the transformer,” he stated
